What you'll learn
What You’ll Learn
Every driver’s session is fully personalised - but the path to progression follows a clear flow. From car setup and basic control to consistent, competition-style drifting, you’ll build precision, confidence, and understanding of how your car truly behaves on track.
Step 1 – Car Setup & Driver Familiarisation
Start with your car. Your instructor will assess your setup - tyres, pressures, alignment, and seating position - ensuring the car is predictable and suited to your skill level. You’ll learn how setup changes affect grip, angle, and control before heading out.
Step 2 – Fundamental Car Control
Get comfortable with your car’s balance and feedback. You’ll begin with throttle and steering control exercises, progressing into donuts and controlled slides. The goal is smooth, repeatable control - understanding how your car reacts to every input.
Step 3 – Linking Drifts & Transitions
Once control is solid, you’ll move on to transitions. Learn how to link corners, adjust timing between transitions, and carry consistent angle through direction changes. Your instructor will tailor the track layout to your pace and comfort.
Step 4 – Advanced Drift Technique
Develop real-world control tools - using left-foot braking to adjust line, throttle modulation to vary angle, and hydro use to reset position mid-drift. You’ll learn how to manipulate transitions to be smoother or snappier depending on course flow.
Step 5 – The Perfect Qualifying Lap
Bring it all together. Drive the full layout with rhythm, speed, and accuracy, hitting clipping points and maintaining a clean line from start to finish. The session ends with feedback based on qualifying criteria - speed, line, angle, and style - so you know exactly where you stand as a driver.
On the day
On the Day
Your BYOC day is all about focused driving, professional feedback, and getting the most from your own car in a proper drift environment.
Arrival & Setup
You’ll arrive at the NDA paddock, check in, and unload your car into the pits. Once parked, your instructor will complete a quick safety and setup check — tyres, seat, harness, fluids, and pressures — before walking you through the day’s plan.
Track Walk & Briefing
Before engines start, you’ll go over the course layout together. Your instructor will highlight clipping points, transition zones, and line targets. Beginners will start with a simpler course; experienced drivers will use the full competition layout.
Driving Sessions
Each hour includes up to three 10-minute driving runs, followed by hands-on feedback between each. Your instructor will review your line, car control, and setup to keep progression steady. Whether you’re learning to drift your first donut or chasing a perfect qualifying lap, every session is adjusted to your pace.
Instructor Demonstrations
If desired, your instructor can demonstrate techniques in your car or from the passenger seat — showing you firsthand how to balance throttle, set angle, or carry speed through transitions.
Trackside Analysis
Between runs, you’ll review GoPro footage, discuss entry points, and refine your setup — tyre pressures, grip levels, or steering feel — to get the best from both car and driver.
The Paddock Atmosphere
Even in private sessions, you’ll be part of the NDA paddock. Chat with instructors, watch live drifting, and soak up the same community energy that defines every Academy day.
End of Session
Your day ends with a full debrief — covering your progress, technical improvements, and next-step recommendations. You’ll leave with new confidence, a sharper understanding of your car, and the feeling of real drift progression.
